Rumours broke out yesterday about Celtic making an enquiry about Barcelona attacking midfielder, Alex Collado. He has struggled to break into the senior team at Camp Nou and made only a couple of appearances for them. He spent time on loan at Granada last season and enjoyed a decent time there. Now, the Spaniard is expected to be on the move once again.
Collado has a lot of attributes that could be a good fit in Ange Postecoglou’s system of football. Not only does he possess skill, passing and dribbling ability, but he also has incredible energy off the ball, pressing and tackling consistently. Thus, it is not hard to see why there might be interest on the part of the Hoops.
But as reported by Football Scotland, no talks have taken place between the two clubs over Collado. And claims that Celtic have made an enquiry for the Barcelona player are wide of the mark.
That is surprising to say the least as some very reliable sources over the past couple of days have reported about there being interest in Collado on the part of Celtic.
It looks like rumours of Celtic interest in Collado might be wide of the mark
It will be very interesting to see how things transpire over the coming days and weeks in this regard.
Celtic have been linked with a number of attacking midfielders in recent times. Other than Collado, names like Ross Barkley and Dele Alli have been doing the rounds of the rumour mill as well.
Most Celtic fans feel though that it is a physical defensive midfielder that the club need to bring in in order to replace Nir Bitton, who left at the end of last season. When it comes to attacking midfield, they already have two very good options in the form of Matt O’Riley and David Turnbull.
