Boli Bolingoli has completed a permanent exit from Celtic, joining Belgian top flight club KV Mechelen. The move almost came out of nowhere as there were no real rumours linking the left-back with a move away in recent days although it was something that needed to happen. The player had failed to break into Ange Postecoglou’s plans last season.
On top of that, the club had signed Alexandro Bernabei this summer in order to provide competition to Greg Taylor, who is coming off of a very promising season in his own right. As a result, Bolingoli’s chances of getting first-team minutes were slim in the 2022/23 campaign and as a result, his move away might be the right step for all parties involved.
There a couple more players though, who should also be on their way out of Celtic this summer, as their chances of featuring regularly are very slim as well.
Celtic duo should be next to leave after Bolingoli completes permanent exit
Jullien was a key player for Celtic in his debut campaign for the club and even scored the League Cup-winning goal against the Rangers. But he has struggled a lot with injuries over the past couple of years and is the fourth choice centre-back at Parkhead right now.
On the other hand, Ajeti had arrived from West Ham United with a lot of expectations surrounding him. He made a bright start as well but his form has faded away since then, and the Swiss striker would be better off at another club, with Kyogo and Giorgos Giakoumakis significantly ahead of him in the pecking order.
Thus, both Jullien and Ajeti should follow Bolingoli out the exit door this summer. It remains to be seen if it ends up happening or not.
