There is a lot of excitement around Celtic at this point of time. The club are coming off of a double winning season, having lifted the Premiership and the League Cup in the previous campaign. And they seem to have strengthened upon that squad. The Hoops have made the loan deals of Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Daizen Maeda permanent. On the other hand, they have signed Alexandro Bernabei and Benjamin Siegrist, and are expected to make a few more signings.
Thus, things are looking up for the Hoops and the picture is very different going into pre-season, when compared to the previous campaign, when there were very little expectations and hopes surrounding the team.
They also started pre-season in style by winning 7-0 against Wiener Viktoria but that does not mean that things are perfect though. The club still seem to have a few injury worries, with the biggest of them surrounding Carl Starfelt.
Starfelt had gotten injured while representing the Swedish national team and it looks like he will be missing the majority of pre-season, although the good news is that he is expected to be fit in time for the season opener against Aberdeen. As reported by Football Scotland, Ange Postecoglou said:
“Carl’s the one who will probably miss a lot of this pre-season but we’re pretty confident we’ll have him back for the start of the season.”
Celtic star set to miss a lot of pre-season due to injury
Starfelt was signed from Rubin Kazan last summer and established himself as a regular starter in Postecoglou’s side.
He formed a formidable partnership with Carter-Vickers in the heart of defence and the two were a major reason behind the Hoops’ successes last season.
Thus, Celtic fans will be hoping that Starfelt is able to fully recover from his injury soon, as he is expected to play a big role this season as well, with the club set to defend their Scottish crown and also return to the Champions League group stage after quite a few years.
