Celtic given massive chance to sign Aaron Mooy this summer

Celtic have a very strong squad at the moment, having already signed Cameron Carter-Vickers, Jota, Daizen Maeda, Benjamin Siegrist and Alexandro Bernabei this summer on permanent deals. But one area of the pitch that does need more options and cannot be overlooked is their midfield, with Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton both leaving at the end of last season.

One could argue that the Celtic midfield is weaker now than it was in the previous campaign and as a result, Ange Postecoglou could do with some reinforcements.

An interesting option that they could go after this summer is Aaron Mooy. The club had been linked with the Australian international last summer as well, and it is not hard to see why, considering the Postecoglou connection. While it did not end up transpiring back then, it could be easier to pull off now, with the midfielder appearing to be available on a free transfer this time around.

Optus Sport tweeted out:

Celtic have been given huge chance to sign Mooy this summer

The versatile Australian star could be the perfect addition to this Celtic midfield, which at times had appeared to lack in some steel, despite their undoubted quality.

Mooy is someone who is adept at playing different styles though and is not someone who is afraid to mix it up in the middle of the park with the opposition, which is a quality that could come in extremely handy next season, when the Hoops are set to come up against very strong opposition in the group stage of the Champions League.

With rumours suggesting that Shanghai Port and Mooy mutually agreed to part ways this summer, this could be the perfect chance for Celtic to make a move for the player. Even though he might be 31 years of age, he should have plenty of football left in the tank and could be a great addition.
