Another Celtic player completes permanent Parkhead exit

Joe Hart arrived at Celtic last summer from Tottenham Hotspur, after the club had struggled to find a regular goalkeeper in the 2020/21 campaign, with Vasilis Barkas, Scott Bain and Conor Hazard, all getting first-team chances but nobody really convincing. A lot of eyebrows were raised at the signing of the Manchester City legend but he has proven his critics wrong since then, establishing himself as the number 1 for the Hoops as well as a leader.

That did not stop Celtic from strengthening further between the posts though as they signed Benjamin Siegrist on a free transfer. The Swiss star had been one of the best goalkeepers in the Premiership over the past few years, during his time at Dundee United.

Both Hart and Siegrist are great options to have in the squad, and could potentially end up challenging each other for the starting role. On the other hand, it does reduce the chances of other goalkeepers.

Ross Doohan enjoyed a great season out on loan at Tranmere Rovers last season. But despite that, his chances of featuring for Celtic were slim to none and he has ended up completing a permanent Parkhead exit instead.

As reported by Tranmere Rovers’ official website, the club have signed Doohan from Celtic for an undisclosed fee.

This does solve one of the mysteries surrounding the player, as it was unclear whether he was still under contract at Celtic or not.

Ultimately, this is the right step for all parties involved as there was very little chance that Doohan would get chances to play at Celtic. Thus, it is best for his career to join a club were he will get the opportunities that he needs at this stage.

Doohan had been at Celtic for a long time and we can only wish him the best of luck moving forward.
