Jordan Larsson’s old comments about joining Celtic go viral

Celtic are expected to go after a striker this summer in order to provide some competition to Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis, especially with Albian Ajeti expected to be on his way out of the club after a couple of underwhelming campaigns. The club could have an incredible opportunity to sign Jordan Larsson for that spot, on a free transfer this summer.

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Larsson is set to leave Spartak Moscow as his contract has been terminated. The Swedish striker has already received some approaches and is available on a free transfer.

After what his father, Henrik Larsson, achieved for Celtic, it should come as no surprise that the 25-year-old is being linked with a move to Parkhead, the moment he has become a free agent.

The interest does seem to be mutual though. Old comments from Larsson have emerged once again, regarding playing for Celtic. As reported by RT, he said:

“For me Celtic will always have a special place in my heart, not that I’ve played there in that sense, but it was the first place where I saw football as a young kid going with my mother to see games when my father was playing.

“That’s where I have the biggest memories in my head: ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ you have all the scarves before the games and everything so of course it will always have a special place in my heart but at the same time since my father is who he is at the club I think for me personally if I would ever have the chance to play there then I would like to establish myself even more, make my own name before I would play there if that chance would ever come up but of course it’s tempting.

“Not that they are interested in that sense but If I think about it to be able to play there would be a dream in that sense.”

Larsson’s old comments about joining Celtic go viral

It is safe to say that Larsson has made a name for himself in recent years, thanks to his performances for Spartak Moscow and has also represented the Swedish national team on multiple occasions.

Celtic had been linked with Larsson last summer as well but back then, he was coming off of a brilliant 2020/21 campaign and was rated at a transfer fee around £15 million.

Now could be the perfect time to bring him in though, as Larsson is a free agent and Celtic are on the lookout for a striker as well, heading into their Champions League campaign after several years. Whether the club do indeed end up trying to sign him or not remains to be seen.

Just the thought of a Larsson in a Celtic shirt once again is enough to give the fans goosebumps!
