Celtic will need to strengthen their squad this summer despite the fact that Ange Postecoglou’s side are coming off of a double-winning season, having lifted the Scottish Premiership and League Cup against all odds in what had been thought of as a transitional campaign. The best time to get better is when you are at the top though and that is hopefully what the Hoops will be aiming to do as well.
The club will need to bring in some experience, as they return to the Champions League after several years, especially after Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton have both left. At the same time though, they will need to bring in youth as well.
One of the most interesting names that Celtic have been linked with in recent times is that of Bayern Munich’s Christopher Scott.
Bayern Munich have triggered a one-year extension in his current deal though and it has put any transfer into major doubt. And as reported by GIVEMESPORT, Dean Jones recently said about the situation involving Celtic and Scott:
“They were really hopeful, but I think he’s signed an extension, which is a bit tough on them really.
“The likelihood now is that he stays in Germany a little while longer. Celtic were definitely looking into it, but it didn’t look good the last time I spoke to someone about it.”
Celtic’s hopes of signing the youngster have been handed a massive blow
Scott’s record while playing at the youth level, for both Bayern Munich and his former club Bayer Leverkusen, is exceptional. He has been compared to Kai Havertz in the past.
Thus, it is not hard to see why Celtic would be interested in bringing him to Parkhead but now, it looks like that will be very difficult to pull off.
Scott had looked like someone who could be a good fit in Postecoglou’s system. At 20 years of age, he would also be expected to get better with experience. But at the same time, he is not someone who would be a make or break signing for the Hoops and they should be fine even if a deal does not happen.
