Celtic might have dropped an interesting transfer hint

Celtic are a team on the rise under the management of Ange Postecoglou. Against all odds, the Hoops ended up winning the Premiership and the Scottish League Cup last season. This was after they had had to undergo a massive squad overhaul last summer, with several key players like Odsonne Edouard, Kristoffer Ajer, Scott Brown, Ryan Christie and others leaving and the club having finished trophyless in the 2020/21 campaign.

It is safe to say that it was a remarkable success for Celtic considering the circumstances but next season promises to be even bigger, with the Scottish crown to defend and Champions League group stage football to play.

Thus, the Hoops will need to strengthen their squad so that they can be competitive at that level. And a couple of moves that they definitely need to perform are signing Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers on a permanent basis after the success that they enjoyed on loan.

Could the club have dropped a transfer hint regarding Carter-Vickers recently though? They wished him luck on Twitter for his game with the United States national team. While it is not known exactly when the defender’s particular deal is up, contracts usually run till May 31.

Did Celtic drop a potential transfer hint?

Celtic do have an option to buy included in the loan deal for Carter-Vickers. It is believed to be an initial transfer fee of around £6 million although it could rise to £10 million with add-ons.

That would instantly make him one of the most expensive signings in the history of the club and potentially the most. But considering how important he was to the team last season and the fact that he is still just 24 years of age, it might certainly be a transfer move worth making.

Rumours have suggested that plenty of Premier League clubs are also interested in signing Carter-Vickers after his strong performances for Celtic this season and as a result, it might be quite difficult to get a deal for him over the line.
