Celtic must improve in one area this summer before any other

Celtic have done a tremendous job this season, winning the Premiership and the League Cup, when very little people would have given them the chance to do that at the start of the campaign. And understandably so, as Ange Postecoglou’s side had a mountain to climb. They had finished 25 points behind the Rangers last season, and on top of that, they had finished trophyless as well.

To go from that to double winners deserve tremendous respect. As we all know by now though, we never stop. And that should apply when it comes to the rebuild of the team as well.

The Hoops have taken several steps in the right direction over the past two transfer windows but there is work still to be done, especially with Champions League group stage guaranteed in the upcoming season.

Celtic will be returning to the competition after several years and must be determined to make an impression. It will also be Postecoglou’s first taste of Europe’s elite competition.

Celtic must improve in one area before any other this summer

There are a few areas in the squad that Celtic could do with improvements in over the course of the summer transfer window. But one that they must address before any other is left-back.

The biggest problem that they have had when it comes to Europe is keeping their opponents at bay and not letting them score too many times against them. Left-back has been an area of weakness for a while now, ever since Kieran Tierney left in the summer of 2019 to join Arsenal in a Scottish record move.

Since then, the club have tried to fill his boots with several players but have not been able to do so. Greg Taylor has made a lot of improvement this season under the management of Postecoglou but it still feels like left-back is an area where Celtic need more options if nothing else.

Hammarby’s Mohanad Jeahze has been linked with a move to Parkhead recently as well and he could be a pretty good fit in Postecoglou’s system of football.
