Celtic came into the game against Dundee United knowing that they needed just a point to secure the title. But realistically, it might already be in the bag. While anything can happen in football, the Hoops hold a significantly better goal difference over the Rangers and cannot finish behind them on points. Thus, while mathematically, the title race is not over yet, virtually it most probably is.
Celtic have the chance to end it mathematically as well, and if they can keep things as they are for 45 more minutes, they will be crowned champions of Scotland for the 10th time over the last 11 seasons.
At half-time, the score is 0-0 and many Celtic fans might be disappointed with the performance that they have put in away against Dundee United till now.
Celtic are yet to put a shot on target even though they have had 7 shots till now and have also had 71% of the possession. This has not looked like a display of Angeball to say the least and while even that might turn out to be enough to seal the deal, fans will be hoping that the team turn on the style a bit in the coming 45 minutes.
Celtic on course for Premiership title despite struggling vs Dundee United
In the first 45 minutes, this has looked like a Celtic side who are going through the motions and have not really played the football that they have been known for all season.
As someone familiar mentioned a few days earlier, we can stumble across the finish line or go past it at full speed. If the title is one on the back of a draw, it would be a bit anticlimactic.
At the same time though, it would be incredible if anybody complains about the manner in which the Premiership is won.
