Kris Boyd comments on Bobby Madden’s photo after Celtic defeat

One has to admit that Celtic where nowhere near the top of their game against the Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-final. It was arguably the worst performance that the Hoops have put in since their defeat at the hands of Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Europa Conference League. And the 1-2 loss at Hampden Park meant that their hopes of winning a treble are now up in smoke.

There were a lot of Celtic players who just did not get it going on the day and somehow, despite playing 120 minutes against SC Braga in midweek, the Rangers looked the fresher of the two sides and the ones who wanted it more.

But despite Celtic’s lacklustre display on the day, one cannot overlook Bobby Madden’s performance either. There was no consistency in the referee’s decision making and the Rangers could have easily gone down to 10 men on more than one occasion.

While Madden was not the reason behind Celtic losing at the hands of the Rangers, the game could have definitely looked very different if the referee had taken some decisions differently. And interestingly, Kris Boyd left a comment on his Instagram post after the game.

Boyd comments on Madden’s photo after Celtic lose to the Rangers

Madden posted a picture of himself walking out with the two teams on Sunday on his Instagram after the game, wishing everyone a Happy Easter. Interestingly, Boyd commented “Same to you” accompanied by an emoji of eyes.

It does feel like Boyd knew exactly what he was doing and it would get the Celtic fans talking, especially after the performance that Madden put in on the day.

While it is easy to wonder how things could have gone very differently on another day, there is no point in it. Celtic still have a lot to play for in the Premiership. With five more league games to go, they are leading the Rangers by six points and have a much superior goal difference as well. And if they are able to lift the title, they would be the ones having the last laugh.
