Celtic handed huge injury boost for St Johnstone game

Celtic’s Achilles’ Heel this season has been their injuries. Several key players have spent time out on the sidelines at one point or another. And the club deserve immense credit for the job that they have done even in their absence for long spells at times. For example, Kyogo Furuhashi has not made a single appearance this year till now but in his absence, Giorgos Giakoumakis has stepped up to the plate.

Things have been looking up for Celtic on the injury front recently though as it looks like most of their squad is fit right now.

They were handed a worry in the Glasgow Derby against the Rangers though as Matt O’Riley was forced off the pitch, after coming on as a second half substitute himself. And naturally, there were worries about whether he had suffered a long-term problem.

Fortunately, that is not the case. As reported by the Glasgow Times, O’Riley is back in training and looks to be available for St Johnstone this weekend.

Celtic handed O’Riley injury boost for St Johnstone game

It is safe to say that this is a pretty big boost for Celtic. O’Riley arrived in January and has already established himself as an important member of this team, competing with Tom Rogic for a first-team spot.

Thus, having him back in the mix, with some of the most important games of the season coming up, is exactly what Postecoglou would have been hoping for.

Celtic are leading the Premiership title race by six points right now, with just six league games to be played. Thus, while they are in the driver’s seat in this title race, there is work to be done yet, especially with one more Glasgow Derby to go.

Celtic’s next game in the Premiership is against St Johnstone, at Parkhead, and Callum Davidson’s side have picked up some form in the past few weeks.
