Celtic handed injury boost coming out of Glasgow Derby

Celtic got arguably the biggest win of their season at the weekend, as they managed to beat the Rangers 2-1 in their own backyard, to go six points clear at the top of the table. With six more league games to go, one has to consider the Hoops as the favourites right now. And Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team are now hoping for their Glasgow rivals to slip up in order to get back in the title race.

Coming out of the game, there were a couple of injury worries for Celtic as well though. One of them was surrounding Greg Taylor, who had been taken off on the 71st minute mark.

Almost unexpectedly, Taylor put in a brilliant performance against the Rangers away at Ibrox and was arguably the man of the match on the day. Thus, it goes without saying that Celtic fans would have been hoping that it was nothing serious.

And that has turned out to be the case, as Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Taylor was brought off due to cramp. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, the manager told Celtic TV:

“Greg was just cramp.”

Celtic handed Taylor boost coming out of Glasgow Derby

Taylor has had his fair share of critics since joining Celtic in the summer of 2019. Fans have been calling out for the club to sign another left-back for a long time now.

But it does look like Postecoglou prefers Taylor over any other left-back at the club at this point of time and the Scottish international repaid that faith by putting in an excellent performance in a very important Glasgow Derby.

Celtic have six more league games to go and they have some margin for error now as well. But one would that they do not slip up even once, and three or four wins out of those remaining games could be enough to see them crowned Scottish champions.
