Ryan Jack calls Celtic star’s comments ‘disrespectful’

Both Celtic and the Rangers will have a lot to play for when they come up against each other in the Scottish Premiership at Ibrox. This is the third Glasgow Derby of the season, with both teams holding one win each. Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side won 1-0 in the first one and Ange Postecoglou’s side got a dominant 3-0 victory in the second. Thus, things could get interesting this weekend.

At the moment, Celtic are leading the title race by three points and thus, it goes without saying that the result of this game could have major implications on the destination of the Premiership trophy come the end of the season.

Earlier on, Giorgos Giakoumakis had claimed that he believed that Celtic were going to win the title and that they were better than the Rangers. Ryan Jack did not appear to be pleased with the Greek striker’s comments though.

The Rangers star has described them as ‘disrespectful’. As reported by The Scottish Sun, Jack said:

“Yeah I don’t agree with that.

“I don’t get that comment at all. I think it’s disrespectful to come out with that.

“But it is what it is, we will go quietly about our business.

“We’ll do our talking in here [the training ground] and work hard in here in-house and come Sunday we will be right up for the challenge.”

Jack has described Celtic star’s comments as disrespectful

Giakoumakis has been a particular standout for Celtic following the winter break. A lot of fans had been underwhelmed by the Greek striker in the first half of the campaign, as he struggled for form and fitness, and had even written him off as a transfer mistake.

He has come into his own over the past few months though and already has a couple of hattricks for Celtic to his name. He is starting to show why he topped the Eredivisie scoring charts last season.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Giakoumakis has scored 12 goals and provided 1 assist in 22 appearances for the club till now.

And when Celtic come up against the Rangers at Ibrox, one would hope that he backs his comments up by putting the ball in the back of the net.
