Ange Postecoglou could have huge Celtic decision to make vs Rangers

Giorgos Giakoumakis has been a shining light for Celtic in recent times and it is easy to forget that a few months back, a lot of people had written the Greek striker off as a transfer mistake on the part of the club. But after the winter break, he has been absolutely superb to say the least. Thus, at this point of time, it is hard to imagine him being dropped to the bench unless he is not fit enough to start.

But at the same time, rumours have suggested that Kyogo Furuhashi could recover from injury in time to feature against the Rangers.

As one would expect, Ange Postecoglou has kept his cards close to his chest, although Kyogo has been pictured training on his own recently and there have been suggestions that he has started sprinting again.

Whether he will be fit in time to face Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side, guess we will know on matchday. But if he is, Postecoglou could be left with an interesting decision to make.

Postecoglou could have interesting Celtic decision to make vs Rangers

If Kyogo is fit enough to start vs Rangers, then the combination up top for Celtic might be something to think about.

Daizen Maeda is clearly bringing a lot to the table in terms of pressing but he does not look like someone who can carry this team on his shoulders if the going gets tough against Rangers. Kyogo has already shown that he can do that, with his brace in the Scottish League Cup final.

But then, it is almost certain that Giakoumakis will be starting at striker. If Kyogo starts at left wing as a result, will he be as effective as he normally is?

There are a lot of possible combinations that Postecoglou could go with here, but the best choice might be to stick with what has worked over the last several weeks.
