Celtic could be interested in another Japanese star

Celtic have signed a number of Japanese players over the past couple of transfer windows, following the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager in the summer. Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate have already made big impacts at the club since arriving. On the other hand, it feels like Daizen Maeda is still settling in, while Yosuke Ideguchi has had a tough time dealing with injuries.

Overall though, Celtic should be delighted with how things have gone for their Japanese stars till now and they have certainly taken this club forward in the right direction.

Kyogo was instrumental in their Scottish League Cup win, scoring a brace in the final against Hibernian despite not being 100 per cent fit for the game. On the other hand, Hatate scored a brace and provided an assist in Celtic’s 3-0 win vs the Rangers recently to go top of the Premiership.

Thus, it would not be a surprise if they tried to sign more Japanese players in the future and could Yuito Suzuki be one of those who have caught Celtic’s eye?

Are Celtic interested in signing Suzuki?

As reported by GOAL, Suzuki is attracting interest from clubs in Belgium and Scotland. He is expected to make a move to Europe at some point this year.

Suzuki is just 20 years of age and currently plays for Shimizu S-Pulse. And he has already gotten a call up to the national team, although he did not end up playing in the games. Even then, it goes on to show how highly the youngster is rated.

Of course, there being interest from Scotland would make one wonder whether Celtic are one of the clubs looking to sign Suzuki, considering some of the signings that they have made lately. But at the same time, the success of those players could result in other Scottish clubs looking to sign Japanese players as well.
