It goes without saying that Celtic are well and truly in the Scottish Premiership title race this time around. Coming into the season, most fans would probably have been content with a second place finish and some form of silverware, after finishing 25 points behind the Rangers and trophyless in the previous campaign. But under the management of Ange Postecoglou, the club have undergone a remarkable transformation that not many could have envisioned.
A 3-0 win over the Rangers in the recent Glasgow Derby sent them to the top of the Premiership table and they did not slip up in the next game either, sealing a 4-0 win away at Motherwell, to maintain their one point lead.
It does not mean that they do not have their fair share of problems though, with the biggest being key players like Kyogo, David Turnbull, Yosuke Ideguchi and a few others out with injuries.
“I hope people aren’t thinking I have got this easy all of a sudden but this is why I wanted to build this squad. It’s pleasing we got some players back.
“Hopefully we get a few more over the next couple of weeks. We are going to need it as we want to maintain the level of performances we have and improve them.”
Postecoglou hands Celtic massive injury boost
While the manager did not name the players that he is hoping will be back over the next couple of weeks, any return will further strengthen this Celtic squad, which is a boost to their title chances.
Of course, the biggest one would be that of Kyogo, who has arguably been the club’s best player this season. But in his absence, Giorgos Giakoumakis has led the line well and shown that he can be someone that Celtic can rely on also.
Overall, things are looking up for the club at this point for sure. But the important thing for them will be to keep on producing the results and performances. With how tight things are, even one bad game can see them drop back down to second and there is very little margin for error.
