Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s incredible claim after losing to Celtic

He might be early into his run as the manager of the Rangers but Giovanni van Bronckhorst is already facing some big questions after his side were handed a 3-0 defeat by Celtic at Parkhead. The result meant that Ange Postecoglou’s side went top of the Premiership table after a long time and now find themselves in the driver’s seat, while the Ibrox side are looking for a way to bounce back.

Things have not been going their since the return from the winter break and they will be hoping that January transfer deadline day loan signing, Aaron Ramsey, can make a difference moving forward. Considering his recent lack of football and injury record, it will be interesting to see.

Most people were of the view that Celtic absolutely dominated the first half against the Rangers and could have actually scored five or six before the break.

Van Bronckhorst seems to have a very different of the recent Glasgow Derby though and believes his team took over against Celtic after the first 20-25 minutes. As reported by the Daily Record, the Rangers manager said:

“We knew Celtic were going to push hard for the early goal. The first 20-25 minutes, there was a storm. Then we took over.”

Celtic still have a long way to go in the Premiership

Celtic might be top of the table right now but they will know that there is still a long way to go in the league. We are still in early February and the Hoops’ lead stands at just a single point.

The Rangers are proof of how quickly things can change in football. Coming out of the winter break they were sitting 6 points clear at the top and now they find themselves a point behind Celtic.

Thus, the focus has to be on continuing their good run of form and hopefully open up a gap at the top if possible.
