Celtic manager makes big claim about Aaron Ramsey

Celtic are clearly the team in form heading into the Glasgow Derby against the Rangers, set to played at Parkhead. Coming out of the winter break, the gap between the two sides had been six points but it has now been cut down to just two, with Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side drawing against Aberdeen and Ross County. Thus, if the Hoops can get a win on Wednesday, they will go top of the Premiership after a long time.

The Rangers have been handed a few boosts over the last few days as well though, with the biggest one being the arrival of Aaron Ramsey on loan from Juventus on deadline day of the January transfer window.

Ramsey is one of the biggest names to arrive in Scotland in a long time and many believe that if he can rediscover his best form, he might have a huge impact on the Premiership title race between Celtic and the Rangers.

Ange Postecoglou has given his take on Ramsey’s arrival though. As reported by Sky Sports, he said:

“He’s a quality player and I still think he is a very good player when you look at the level he has been playing at for the last couple of years.

“Club wise he hasn’t played a lot, but when he played for the national team in the summer he still looked a very, very good player.

“So it’s good for the league, but ultimately with all these signings, whether they are high profile or not, it comes down to performances.

“No-one had heard of Kyogo before I brought him here but no-one’s going to tell me he’s not good for the Scottish game.”

Celtic manager makes big Ramsey claim before Glasgow Derby

There is no denying the fact that at the top of his game, Ramsey is a brilliant player. He has not been at that level for a while though. And his recent injury history is a problem for the Rangers as well.

It remains to be seen how he performs over the remaining campaign but for now, it looks like he won’t be ready in time to face Celtic at Parkhead.

Whatever may be the case, Celtic should be confident of their chances going into the game, having seen Ross County put three past the Rangers just a few days. The Hoops’ recent record against the side from Ibrox is a cause for worry though and hopefully, they will turn it around this time.
