Celtic player fit and available in massive injury boost

Celtic have had their fair share of injury problems this season. In fact, it was their biggest issue in the first half of the campaign. Having signed five players this January – Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi, Johnny Kenny and Matt O’Riley – the Hoops must have surely hoped that they had put those problems behind them but unfortunately, that has not turned out to be the case.

Callum McGregor, Ideguchi and Liel Abada were all forced off the pitch in the recent Scottish Cup win over Alloa Athletic. On the other hand, the likes of Kyogo, Albian Ajeti and David Turnbull have been out with injuries for a while now.

Another player who has been going through a long-term injury is Christopher Jullien, who did not make a single appearance in 2021. But now, it looks like he is fit and available once again, which will be a massive boost for Celtic.

As reported by Celts Are Here, Ange Postecoglou told Celtic TV:

“He’s fit and he’s available. Now it’s just a matter of opportunity and that’ll come when it’s there for him. It’s like I said with the other players, you get an opportunity for different reasons. Sometimes it’s because of injuries or because you want to alter things.

“The key thing for Chris is that he’s training. He’s training well, he’s fit and available and now it’s just a matter of him biding his time to get his opportunity and when he gets it, to perform well. He hasn’t contributed so far so it’s great that it’s another player we can call upon.”

Jullien return will come as a huge boost for Celtic

Jullien was arguably Celtic’s best defender before he got injured. Now though, he has to get past some tough competition in order to get back into the first XI.

Cameron Carter-Vickers has been absolutely brilliant and it is hard to see him being dropped anytime soon. On the other hand, while Carl Starfelt’s form has blown hot and cold, he is a key part of Postecoglou’s plans as well. And Stephen Welsh has played the role of the backup centre-back pretty well till now.

On the other hand, Jullien has not played a single minute of football in over a year. As a result, it will be very interesting to see how he does when he eventually makes his return to the pitch. If he can rediscover his best form, he is certainly good enough to make a contribution for Celtic this season itself.
