Most of Celtic’s January transfer window has revolved around bringing players in. But after completing five signings in the form of Daizen Maeda, Yosuke Ideguchi, Reo Hatate, Johnny Kenny and Matt O’Riley, the Hoops’ focus might turn towards find some struggling players new clubs, on loan or on a permanent basis. They have already completed a few moves in that regard as well.
Liam Shaw has joined Motherwell on loan till the end of the season while Conor Hazard has been sent to HJK Helsinki on a year-long loan. Ewan Henderson has also joined Hibernian on loan but that move is expected to be made permanent in the summer.
And amidst all this, it looks like another one of the club’s youngsters could be closing in on an exit. The player in question is Adam Montgomery.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, Montgomery will be allowed to leave on loan in the second half of the season and while several clubs are interested, Kilmarnock are poised to win the chase for the Celtic youngster’s signature.
Montgomery looks set to leave Celtic on loan this month
It had looked like Montgomery was set to play an important role in Ange Postecoglou’s first-team this season after a very bright start to the campaign. At one point, there were calls to even make him the starting left-back.
His form has faded away since then and with Liam Scales moving ahead of him in the pecking order, it is pretty clear that the youngster could do with a move away on loan in order to gain some experience and regular playing time.
Still just 19 years of age, Montgomery is expected to have a huge future ahead of him and Kilmarnock might be a good place for him to continue his development as a football and get better.
