£5 million Celtic player tipped to leave this January

With a lot of excitement around new Celtic signings and loan deals potentially being made permanent, the fans are expecting to see some players leave too, either on loan or on a permanent basis. And Frank McAvennie has made no secret of the fact about who he expects to see depart Parkhead this January.

Some of those who move on may be more recent signings or those who have failed struggled to make the jump from the youth level to senior football.

We have already seen Liam Shaw join Motherwell on loan while Ewan Henderson has joined Hibernian on loan which will be made permanent next summer.

There are others also on the verge of leaving though, who have been at the club longer. And as reported by Football Insider, McAvennie appears to believe that it is only a matter of time before Albian Ajeti is on his way out of Parkhead as he said:

“Ajeti will be gone before the Hibs game (17 January), I’m expecting that now.”

And the former Celtic star also said about the Swiss striker:

“It’s not worked for him, it was never going to work.

“I look at centre forwards, I was one, it’s something I know about and can talk about.

“The boy never did it in England. He never even got close to a game at West Ham.”

Ajeti has been linked with a Celtic exit for a while now

It won’t be a huge surprise if Ajeti does end up leaving in January. Signed in the summer of 2020, he looked an interesting prospect, arriving after a disappointing spell at West Ham United.

He did make a bright start to life at Parkhead though and initially, it had looked like the Hoops had pulled off a transfer masterstroke. But unfortunately, his form has faded away badly since those early displays and a series of injuries have not helped either.

He has had opportunities to show what he can do for Celtic. But he just has not taken those and on top of that, Ajeti does not look like a Ange Postecoglou style of player.

Thus, if he was to seal a Parkhead exit over the coming weeks, it would come as a massive surprise to the Celtic fans.
