Celtic’s move for Kyogo Furuhashi in the summer was an absolute masterstroke. And as result, there will be lot of expectations from their three new signings from the J1 League – Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi. The Hoops finished the year in the best possible fashion by announcing moves for all three at the same time.
It is incredible how quickly perspectives can change in the world of football. A few months back, when Kyogo was signed, there were a lot of doubts whether he could settle into the Scottish game.
Now, there seems to be nothing but excitement around the new arrivals from Japan. But again, the same questions have to be asked regarding how these signings might turn out and how they will settle in. Kyogo must be considered as an exception and not the rule.
Journalist Dan Orlowitz has talked about what Celtic can expect from the trio though. Sky Sports Scotland tweeted out the video of his interview:
What to expect from the three new Celtic signings?
It will be very interesting to see what the three new signings bring to the table for Celtic, as all three of them are very different kind of players:
Maeda is definitely the one the fans will be most excited about. He topped the J1 League scoring charts in the 2021 season despite not being an out and out striker.
His biggest advantage is the fact that he will know exactly what Postecoglou wants from him, as they have already spent time together at Yokohama F. Marinos.
In fact, it Postecoglou who had brought him to the J1 League side and now, he has repeated the trick in Glasgow.
Maeda definitely seems to be the one out of the three who is ready to come in and make an immediate impact. It will be interesting to see though how he and Kyogo fit into the same line up.
