Celtic receive double transfer boost ahead of January

There had been suggestions that Celtic were going to be moving quick in the January transfer window in bringing in their new signings as soon as possible. But even then, not many would have expected things to move as rapidly as they have since the winter break started. In fact, we have not even entered the new year but the Hoops already seem to be closing in on two of their targets already.

Celtic were always expected to have their eyes on J1 League stars. There are a couple of reasons for that.

The first and the biggest is the fact that Ange Postecoglou spent significant time managing there, and is very aware of the players there. The second was of course the success that Kyogo has enjoyed ever since coming in in the summer.

Now, it looks like Celtic might not be far away from adding a couple more names to their squad in the form of Daizen Maeda and Yosuke Ideguchi.

Celtic handed double transfer boost ahead of January

As reported by Yahoo Japan, Maeda and Ideguchi have already flown to Europe for their medicals and a press conference is expected to be held soon when the deals become formal. They have also already passed their work visa examination.

Thus, it does feel like Celtic could be getting these two deals over the line very soon. On the other hand, they might have to wait a little bit longer for Hatate to arrive.

Maeda is believed to be arriving on a loan deal till the end of the season with an option to buy included in the deal. That option is expected to be about €1.8 million. On the other hand, Ideguchi’s move is believed to be a permanent transfer and the fee is expected to be about €1 million.
