Celtic have made some undeniable progress since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager in the summer. Initially, the club had been linked with a move for Eddie Howe for months, but after that failed to transpire, they decided to bring him in from Yokohama F. Marinos. And while a lot of fans were not excited by the appointment early on, it has proven to be a masterstroke on the part of the club over time.
Celtic have already ended their trophyless run by winning the Scottish League Cup but there is a lot more work to be done, especially in the Premiership, where they sit six points behind the Rangers.
While the results have remained mostly positive for Celtic, one has to admit that their performances have dipped recently. It might very well be a direct result of the number of injuries that they have as well as the fact that they have barely gotten any time to work on things on the training ground, with games coming thick and fast.
“It’s been a while to be fair.
“It’s kind of been game-recovery for quite a while now.
“Just to be able to work with the players and work on our game and keep pushing and helping our game, it’s going to be a crucial time for us and for the players.
“No breaks. We keep cracking on. There is plenty to do.”
Postecoglou makes brutally honest Celtic confession
It is safe to say that this winter break could prove to be very vital for Celtic in terms of working on some things and ultimately moving forward as a team.
It also gives time to some of the injured players to recover and hopefully the majority of them will be available once again, when Celtic face Hibernian on January 17.
When Postecoglou arrived, most people had expected the players to take a fair amount of time to come to grips with his style of football. It must be said though that they might have done it much quicker than expectations.
It does feel like though that there is a lot more to come and it is now about taking another step forward and taking their game to the next level.
