Cameron Carter-Vickers hands Celtic massive boost

Celtic certainly got their loan moves right this summer, bringing in Jota from Benfica and Cameron Carter-Vickers from Tottenham Hotspur on respective season-long deals. Both have come in and established themselves in Ange Postecoglou’s starting XI and now, the big question is whether the club can sign him on a permanent basis in the near future.

There has already been a lot of talk already about signing Jota on a permanent deal. And it is not difficult to understand why. The Portuguese winger has been superb this season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 8 goals and provided 7 assists in 18 appearances. Celtic are believed to have an option to buy included in the loan deal around £6.5 million to sign him.

There has not been as much talk regarding a long-term move for Carter-Vickers but that does not mean that the Hoops are not interested. In fact, it might be quite the contrary.

As tweeted out by Ekrem Konur, Celtic have begun talks with Tottenham Hotspur over the permanent transfer of the defender and Carter-Vickers is happy at the club and wants to stay.

Celtic also have an option to buy included in the loan deal for Carter-Vickers although it is not clear what that figure is. Rumours have suggested that it could be as low as £3 million and as high as £10 million.

Thus, it will be interesting to see how much it really is and whether Celtic do end up making a move for him in the near future.

If the Hoops are able to sign Carter-Vickers on a permanent basis, it would certainly be considered as a major coup for them as he has been excellent since arriving at Parkhead and might very well be the club’s best defender at this point of time.
