St Mirren’s game against Celtic this midweek is set to go through despite their being a Covid outbreak in the home side’s camp. And as a result, it is safe to say that the situation is far from ideal for Jim Goodwin’s team. They will be without an incredible number of players in their match against the newly crowned Scottish League Cup champions.
Celtic will have confidence on their side heading into the game as Ange Postecoglou’s side lifted the first trophy of the season at the weekend.
But it is safe to say that they have several injury problems of their own as a number of key players are out on the sidelines at the moment. Interestingly, the game against St Mirren could prove to be a potential opportunity for Postecoglou to rest some of his stars.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, St Mirren have just ten outfield players available for the game against Celtic with a dozen of their first-team squad members, including eight regular starters, and a member of Goodwin’s coaching staff are currently self-isolating.
Celtic could have a chance to rest of their players against St Mirren
It is safe to say that every Premiership game is important for Celtic at this point of time, considering how tight the title race with the Rangers appears to be.
But one has to admit that with so many players out of action for St Mirren, one would expect Postecoglou’s side to get all three points in midweek.
Of course, football does not work like that and an upset can take place at any point of time but considering the circumstances, it might not be a bad idea for Postecoglou to rest some of the players who have played continuous football this season when Celtic face St Mirren.
