Celtic manager makes brilliant Kyogo claim after final

Kyogo Furuhashi delivered  for Celtic when it mattered the most. Coming into the Scottish League Cup final, there were huge question marks whether he would be fit in time or not. But on the day, he started. And he proved to be the difference between the two sides as well. The Japanese superstar scored a brace to help Ange Postecoglou’s side to a 2-1 victory at Hampden Park over Hibernian and win them the first trophy of the season.

Hibernian had taken the lead but Celtic got level immediately as Kyogo finished wonderfully to make it 1-1. And 20 minutes later, it would hand the Hoops the lead with a brilliant lobbed finish over the goalkeeper. It was a brace that puts him in the history books.

Heading into the game, Postecoglou had kept his cards close to his chest regarding Kyogo’s fitness. But after the game, he revealed that the Japanese star was determined to play in the Scottish League Cup.

Clyde 1 Superscoreboard tweeted out a video of Postecoglou’s comments about Kyogo after Celtic’s League Cup win:

Kyogo was absolutely brilliant for Celtic in the League Cup final

Coming into the game, there were clearly fitness problems for Kyogo. He had been forced off the pitch a little over a week earlier in the game against Real Betis and was in a race against time to get fit.

He won that race and then he won the game for Celtic. The Japanese superstar has proved to be a talisman for the Hoops this season and these were his two biggest goals for the club yet.

There is no doubt that this League Cup win will give the club a massive confidence boost moving forward. There is still a lot to play for this season, including the Scottish Premiership title, which the club must be keen to win back from the Rangers.
