Rangers star ruled out of Glasgow Derby against Celtic

Celtic have struggled with injuries in recent weeks as they navigate through the busiest time of the season. However, the Hoops would be relieved to learn that the latest injury news doesn’t involve one of their player ahead of the upcoming Glasgow Derby against the Rangers, scheduled to be played on January 2.

With several of their players spending time on the sidelines, including star signings Kyogo and Jota, the Hoops are not in the best shape at the moment. But it appears that their Glasgow rivals have been handed a blow as well.

It appears that Ryan Jack, who has been dealing with a injury since last season, will be out until after the winter break after suffering a setback in his recovery, meaning he will miss the game against Celtic. Kemar Roofe has an injury problem as well but the Rangers are hoping that he will be back before the winter break.

As reported by the Daily Record, Giovanni van Bronckhorst said:

“Kemar (Roofe) has a setback and will hopefully return before the winter break.

“Ryan (Jack) we hope to have him back fully fit after the winter break.”

Rangers star appears to be out of the upcoming Glasgow Derby against Celtic

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Jack has made just three appearances this season. He has been struggling with an injury since last season and continues to be sidelined through it till now. It will be interesting to see whether Roofe is fit enough to start against Celtic either.

And it looks like Celtic’s meeting with the Rangers just after the New Year will be based on adaptability due to injuries. So far both teams have managed it well, with neither team dropping a point since October.

The game will be another great test to see how Ange Postecoglou’s side fairs against the Rangers. The Hoops weren’t able to get a point at Ibrox earlier in the season despite dominating possession, meaning they need to snap a winless streak that stretches back to the 2019/20 season.
