Celtic handed transfer boost for Brazilian midfielder

Celtic have a difficult December run of fixtures to navigate through, with several of their star players out injured and the squad depth at Parkhead not great in the first place. Thus, Ange Postecoglou has been left scrambling for options. It remains to be seen how they do moving forward although it must be pointed out that the Hoops have won all four of their games this month till now.

No matter how the month of December turns out, it is safe to say that Celtic need to make additions to their squad when the transfer window reopens in January.

One area that the Hoops are expected to be looking to strengthen in is the middle of the park. And Gremio’s Fernando Henrique is a player that they have been linked with recently.

In that regard, Celtic have been handed a transfer boost. Gremio were relegated from the Brazilian Serie A recently. This could lead to them letting go of several of their players as they drop down to Serie B.

Could Celtic make a move for Henrique after Gremio’s relegation?

Henrique was highly rated in Brazil while coming through the ranks but found himself struggling for game time at Gremio recently. Thus, the 20-year-old midfielder was already expected to depart the club even before their relegation.

But the big question is, will Celtic end up making a move for the Brazilian player in January?

The Hoops have already been linked with several players in recent weeks. And it is believed that they are getting closer to getting deals done for Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi, both of them are natural midfielders.

Thus, a move for Henrique probably might not be in the plans although nothing is set in stone and let’s see what the future holds. One thing that looks for sure right now is that Celtic could be headed towards an exciting January transfer window.
