3 signings Celtic seem likely to make in the January transfer window

This January transfer window promises to be an exciting one for Celtic. The club have done well with the options that they have at the moment and Ange Postecoglou deserves a lot of credit for that. But the fact of the matter is that the Hoops need to strengthen their squad and give the manager more options, if they want to put up a sustainable title challenge.

Postecoglou spent a significant amount of time managing in Japan before arriving at Celtic in the summer and thus, it should come as no surprise that the club have been linked with players from the J1 League recently.

And with the J1 League campaign already over and the Japanese footballing season coming to an end the week before Christmas, the winter transfer window provides Celtic a great chance to sign players from there.

The Hoops do appear to have their eyes on quite a few of them at this point of time to be honest.

3 signings Celtic seem likely to make in the January transfer window

Here are three signings that Celtic seem likely to make in the upcoming January transfer window in order to strengthen Ange Postecoglou’s squad:

Reo Hatate

The deal to bring Reo Hatate to Celtic was initially believed to be quite straightforward, as it was believed that his current deal with Kawasaki Frontale ran out at the end of January.

Since then though, there have been suggestions that that might not be the case and instead, his deal runs through 2022 at least. Naturally, that would change the situation but even then, there is the feeling that Celtic can make it happen if they want to.

Hatate has been one of the standout performers in the J1 League recently who has shown that he can play in several positions across the pitch and put in solid performances in all of them. Thus, he could be a solid signing for the Hoops if they can get a deal done.
