Celtic star could receive rare start against Aberdeen

Celtic might be just coming off of a big game against Bayer Leverkusen away in Germany, but there is no time for them to sit back and reflect. The important games will keep coming thick and fast for Ange Postecoglou’s side and they next face Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership at Parkhead. The Hoops will be hoping to use this as an opportunity to bounce back after their midweek defeat and also hopefully cut down the gap with the Ranger in the table.

Going into the game, Celtic will have their fair share of worries though. The name of Nir Bitton was added to their list of injury doubts, after he had to come off against Bayer Leverkusen in the second half.

At the moment, it is unclear whether he would be able to feature or not against Aberdeen. On the other hand, it looks like James McCarthy could be a big part of Postecoglou’s plans over the upcoming games.

As reported by the Glasgow Times, the Celtic manager said about the summer signing:

“James is getting there. There have been those signs and he is ready for an opportunity now. That may come on Sunday or it may come next week. He is ready for that.”

McCarthy could play a big part for Celtic in the upcoming games

Celtic do not have the deepest squad at the moment. On the other hand, the month of December is one of the busiest parts of the football calendar.

As a result, McCarthy would have always been expected to play his part during this busy run of fixtures. And Bitton’s potential injury means that that is almost certain to happen at this point of time.

McCarthy arrived as a free agent in the summer and was surprisingly handed a four year deal by the Hoops. Unfortunately, has struggled with both form and fitness in recent times and has rarely started for Postecoglou’s side. He could possibly get a rare start though when Celtic face Aberdeen at Parkhead.
