Journalist makes huge claim about Dermot Desmond’s Celtic future

It is safe to say that the 2020/21 season was a forgettable one for Celtic. The Hoops had the chance to create history by winning their tenth straight Scottish league title but ended up finishing 25 points behind the Rangers, while disappointing in every other competition as well. That was a major blow for a team that had won the domestic Treble in four consecutive seasons.

Dermot Desmond was absent from the Celtic AGM once again this time around. And that has been the case generally over the years. Now, though, it looks like his role with the club could slowly be set to undergo a change.

To be honest, Desmond has not appeared to be a prominent figure when it comes to making decisions around the club in recent times. His name crops up in the media most often when there is a change of manager. And it looks like he could soon be handing over more of the responsibilities to his son Ross.

As reported by GIVEMESPORT, journalist Stuart Hodge said regarding the situation at Celtic:

“I think, overall, from what I hear, Dermot Desmond’s looking to hand more and more responsibilities over to his son.”

Celtic’s responsibilities could be handed over to Ross Desmond

It was Ross who showed up at the AGM on behalf of his father and it looks like he could be handed more of the responsibilities around the club soon. The situation can be compared with that of Arsenal.

Whatever may be the case, it is pretty clear that Celtic could do with a bit of a change in direction. Things had become a bit slow at the club in recent years and that is a huge reason why the Rangers were able to catch up and win the Premiership title last season.

May be this kind of a change could turn out to be good for Celtic in the long-term. That remains to be seen. The recent appointment of Ange Postecoglou certainly appears to have been a step in the right direction.
