A few months ago, most Celtic fans would have expected Eddie Howe to be in the Parkhead managerial hot seat at this point of time. A move had looked like only a matter of time. But then, as we all know, it fell through in the final stages and the Hoops ended up going for Ange Postecoglou.
It is safe to say to say that most Celtic fans will be happy with how things played out over the summer, considering the style of football that the club have played as well as some of their recent results. Things are certainly looking up for the Hoops at the moment.
On the other hand, Eddie Howe appeared to be the favourite to get the Newcastle United job. Rumours broke out yesterday though that there was a hold up regarding his back room staff. And now, as reported by the Mirror, the deal is at risk of collapse.
Fabrizio Romano tweeted out an update on the situation:
As expected, Celtic fans were quick to call deja vu:
Could Howe to Newcastle United be set for a repeat of the Celtic situation?
It is safe to say that the Newcastle United job is one of the most interesting and exciting in world football at this point of time. After their recent takeover, many expect them to undergo a transformation similar to that of Manchester City over a decade ago and start competing for the Premier League title in a few years’ time.
They have not able to get a new manager in though, despite being linked with several names over the past few weeks.
The back room staff was believed to have been one of the biggest reasons why Howe’s move to Celtic did not end up taking place. Could there be a repeat of the situation with Newcastle United as well?
