Today’s result was a set back. Not only in terms of league position, but of confidence as well.
If Celtic had taken three points today, we all knew that top of the table spot was ours and the confidence the team would have taken from that would have been immeasurable.
There are players in the squad that have never known the feeling to be top of the league, never win a title, and it could have given them that gentle boost and confidence to at least try and stay there.
That chance is gone now but there is still a long way to go yet before anything is decided.
But speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, journalist and pundit, Mark Guidi believes that there is one guy that can help the Hoops rip the title from Govan despite today’s set back, “The one difference for me now, and Celtic were in total control on Wednesday night, they were very, very comfortable and a good performance.
“But when he was required at big moments, Joe Hart was there. And Celtic haven’t had that for over a year since Fraser Forster left the club.
“Almost anything on target on target last season was going in.
“A goalkeeper that they had didn’t make a difference last season whereas on the other side of the city, they have Alan McGregor who was pulling off save after save when required.
“So again that’s why Rangers absolutely should be concerned because Celtic have got a title winning goalkeeper between the sticks now.
“They’ve got a guy that can help them win the title.
“We all know the capabilities up front.
“The front three will score goals for fun as well.
“I’m still not overly convinced that the two central defenders but they’ve got a goalkeeper that can help Celtic win the title and if Rangers are not on it, Rangers will not retain the title.”
Clearly today’s result does not reflect the tale of the last few games but Celtic certainly do have a solid goalkeeper they can rely on and the fans finally have someone they can have confidence in between the sticks.
