“I don’t care what the result was” – Davie Provan’s bizarre rant at Postecoglou’s Saturday team line up

I’m starting to find some Celtic pundits extremely tedious and frustrating.

If they are not lambasting the playing style when we are losing, they are critical of the team line up when we are winning.

So far, Ange Postecoglou’s side have won four games on the trot. Scoring eight goals and conceding just one.

And that’s including tough away trips to Aberdeen and Motherwell.

Postecoglou was being ripped in the media for his gung ho footballing style in Europe whilst losing, and then being lambasted for his team selections when losing to Livingston and drawing with Dundee United.

On Saturday, the gaffer lined up with Giakoumakis up front and Kyogo on the right. And to all intents and purposes, it worked. Brilliantly.

But Davie Provan, speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, STILL wasn’t happy as Kyogo wasn’t playing through the middle.

The big Greek got his first goal as the assist came down the right hand side from Ralston, and Kyogo won a penalty whilst drifting in from the left.

But this wan’t enough to satisfy Provan who moaned, “I don’t care what the result was.

“I would have the same opinion if Celtic had won five nothing yesterday.

“Kyogo is Celtic’s best striker and he’s half the player when he’s out on the touchline.

“Now I get it that when the ball comes down the left hand side he becomes a second striker and he gets into the box.

“But when the  play’s being built on the right, he is a bystander. He’s out on the touchline, he can’t affect the game.

“And he’s the best finisher the club has.

“I think Giakoumakis will will do well but I just don’t get it with Kyogo. I really don’t.

“Ange will need to find a system that will accommodate his best players and Kyogo arguably is THE best.”

I could understand if Celtic lost or even drew the game and the performance was poor.

But, as always, Ange can’t win. He’s damned if he does and he’s damned if he doesn’t.

I suppose it’s just as well he doesn’t give a damn!
